Client Appreciation at Topgolf: A Sunday Well Spent

At Gilday Insurance Agency, our clients mean everything to us — and getting to spend time with you outside of emails, quotes, and policy reviews is one of our favorite parts of what we do. That’s exactly why our recent Client Appreciation Event at Topgolf was such a special day for our team.

A few Sundays ago, we gathered with clients, friends, and members of our local community for an afternoon of sunshine, golf swings, and great conversation. The weather showed up for us, the vibes were relaxed, and the competition was friendly (with a few surprisingly impressive shots mixed in!).

Getting to Connect in a Different Way

One of the best parts of the afternoon was simply spending real, uninterrupted time with our clients. No ringing phones. No appointments to go over insurance. Just good conversations, laughter, and a chance to get to know each other beyond insurance policies and renewal dates.

Events like this remind us that behind every policy is a real person, a family, and a story — and we truly value those relationships.

    So Much Fun at Topgolf

Between the swings, the cheering, and the conversations between rounds, the energy at Topgolf was undeniable. We loved seeing families out together, first-time golfers giving it a try, and plenty of playful competition throughout the day. Whether it was someone lining up their perfect shot or simply soaking in the sunshine, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

    Why We Do These Events

As a local Woodinville agency, community is at the heart of everything we do. We believe insurance should feel personal — and events like this give us a chance to show our appreciation, say thank you, and continue building meaningful relationships with the people we’re honored to serve.

Our goal has always been to be more than just an insurance agency. We want to be a trusted resource and a long-term partner for our clients, through every season of life.

Thank You for Spending the Day With Us

To everyone who joined us at Topgolf: thank you for taking time out of your weekend to spend it with us. We’re incredibly grateful for your trust, your support, and the opportunity to serve you.

And if you weren’t able to attend this time — we promise more events are on the way! Be sure to follow along on our social media and website so you don’t miss the next one.

  • 🍂 Fall Home Maintenance Checklist (and Knowing Your Coverage)

Fall is officially here—and with it comes cooler temperatures, rainy days, and stormy weather. As leaves fall and the weather shifts, it’s not only the perfect time to bask in the cozy warmth of autumn, but also to prepare your home for the months ahead. A little maintenance now can save you big headaches (and expenses) later!

Here’s a simple fall home maintenance checklist to help keep your home safe and sound this season—plus an important insurance tip every homeowner should know.

    ✅ Fall Home Maintenance Checklist

    1. Clear Gutters and Downspouts
Falling leaves can quickly clog your gutters, leading to water damage and roof leaks. Make sure gutters are clear and downspouts direct water away from your foundation.

    2. Check Your Roof
Loose shingles or worn spots can turn into leaks once the heavy rains arrive. A quick inspection now can prevent a much bigger repair later.

    3. Trim Trees and Branches
Strong winds and muddy, mushy ground can bring down trees or branches, potentially damaging your home, car, or power lines.

    4. Service Your Heating System
Have your furnace or heating system serviced before the chill sets in. It’s safer, more efficient, and prevents mid-season breakdowns.

    5. Test Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors
With fireplaces, heaters, and candles in use during fall and winter, it’s a good time to make sure detectors are working properly.

🏠 Why Your Insurance Coverage Matters Too

Even with the best preparation, accidents can happen—like a tree branch falling on your roof. That’s where your homeowners insurance comes in.

Keep in mind, not all policies cover losses the same way. The difference often comes down to whether your policy pays out on a Replacement Cost Value (RCV) or Actual Cash Value (ACV) basis.

🔑 Replacement Cost (RCV) vs. Actual Cash Value (ACV): What’s the Difference?

    • Replacement Cost (RCV):
Your insurance covers what it actually costs to replace or repair your damaged property with new materials, without subtracting depreciation.
Example: If a storm damages your 15-year-old roof, your policy pays what it costs to install a brand-new roof.
    • Actual Cash Value (ACV):
Your insurance covers the replacement cost minus depreciation for age and wear.
Example: If that same 15-year-old roof is damaged, you’ll get a payout based on its current value—not enough for a brand-new roof.

This difference can be significant when it comes to big-ticket items like roofs, siding, or major appliances.

🌧️ Heading Into Stormy Weather: Are You Covered the Way You Think?

Taking care of fall maintenance helps prevent damage, but having the right coverage gives that extra layer of comfort. If you’re not sure whether your policy is RCV or ACV—or if your coverage limits are enough for today’s rebuilding costs—this is the perfect time to review.

Remember: our team is always happy to walk through your policy and make sure you’re set up for the season ahead. That way, you can head into fall knowing both your home and your wallet are protected. More money in your pocket for pumpkin brulee lattes!

🍁 Stay safe, stay cozy, and enjoy everything fall in the PNW has to offer!

  • Supporting Local: A Fun Day at TopGolf with All Star Auto Glass

Last week, our agency had the pleasure of attending a fantastic client appreciation event hosted by All Star Auto Glass at TopGolf in Renton, WA — and we just had to share a quick recap!

Claire and her husband Erick represented our agency at the event, connecting with other industry professionals and enjoying a fun afternoon of swings, laughter, and community. Events like these are a great reminder of how lucky we are to partner with local businesses that truly value the relationships behind the work.

All Star Auto Glass went above and beyond — from great food and raffle prizes to an energy that made everyone feel welcome. It’s not every day you get to talk shop and try to land a hole-in-one in the same day!

We’re grateful to collaborate with partners who not only provide top-tier service to our clients but also go out of their way to build meaningful connections within the community. Whether it’s celebrating wins or supporting one another in business, these relationships are what make our work that much more rewarding.

  • 🎆Fireworks, Fun, and Fire Safety: Fourth of July Insurance Tips for Homeowners

The Fourth of July is a time to celebrate freedom, gather with friends and family, and enjoy backyard BBQs and fireworks displays. But along with the fun comes an increased risk of accidents—especially when it comes to fire safety. Each year, thousands of firework-related fires and injuries are reported across the country, many of which could be prevented with the right precautions and protection in place.

As your local insurance agency, we want to help you enjoy a safe and worry-free Independence Day. Here are a few tips to keep your holiday celebrations covered—literally and figuratively.

🔥 1. Fireworks and Your Homeowners Insurance

If you’re lighting fireworks on your property, it’s important to know that most homeowners insurance policies do cover fire damage if it’s accidental. However, some policies may exclude claims if fireworks are illegal in your area. That’s why it’s crucial to check your city or county laws before lighting up the sky.

Pro tip: Even if you’re not setting off fireworks yourself, your home could still be at risk from neighbors’ celebrations. Having the right coverage in place ensures you’re prepared for unexpected incidents.

🍔 2. Backyard BBQs and Liability Protection

Grilling is a Fourth of July staple, but it’s also one of the top causes of outdoor fires. Keep your grill at least 10 feet away from structures, and never leave it unattended.

Hosting guests? Your liability coverage kicks in if someone is injured on your property (for example, a slip on wet grass or a burn from the grill). For added protection, consider an umbrella policy—it’s affordable and can cover gaps beyond your standard policy limits.

    🚗 3. Hosting a Party? Think Ahead

Serving alcohol? If a guest causes a car accident after leaving your party, you could be held partially liable. That’s where having proper homeowners liability coverage (and again, an umbrella policy) can offer peace of mind.

💥 4. Firework Alternatives for Safer Fun

If you’re looking for lower-risk ways to celebrate, consider:

    • Glow sticks or sparklers in a wide-open area (with water on hand!)
    • Laser light shows
    • Attending a professional fireworks display in your community

Bonus: many local shows are safer and more spectacular than backyard fireworks.

🎥 Watch: Fourth of July Safety Tips from the Experts

We recently teamed up with our friends at ServiceMaster to share even more tips on how to keep your home and loved ones safe this Fourth of July. In this quick video, Ty and Juli walk through fire prevention best practices, what to do in case of an accident, and how to make sure your insurance is up to date before the festivities begin.

👉 Check out the video below and share it with anyone hosting or celebrating this year!
Stay safe, stay covered, and enjoy your holiday!

    🧨 Final Thoughts

The Fourth of July should be a time for making memories—not emergency calls. A quick review of your homeowners policy can go a long way in making sure you’re protected from fire, accidents, and liability surprises.

If you’re not sure what your policy covers—or you just want a quick review—we’re here to help. Give us a call, and we’ll make sure your coverage is as solid as your grill game.

Wishing you a fun, safe, and sparkling Fourth of July!

  • Proud to Be CougsFirst! – Our Connection with WSU 🐾

At Gilday Insurance Agency, we’re proud members of CougsFirst!, a network that celebrates and supports businesses connected to Washington State University. As a small business rooted in community values, CougsFirst! gives us an opportunity to connect with fellow Cougs, support alumni-owned businesses, and build meaningful relationships beyond insurance.

Our agency owner, Ty Gilday, is a proud WSU alum. His time at Washington State helped shape not only his career path but his values around leadership, community, and connection. That Cougar spirit continues to guide how we operate our agency today—with integrity, hard work, and pride in our roots.

Earlier this month, we had the opportunity to attend the CougsFirst! Show in Bellevue, WA for the second year in a row – and it was an experience we won’t forget. From engaging with other Coug-owned businesses to meeting fellow alumni and fans, the energy in the room was full of pride, collaboration, and Cougar spirit.

Whether we were chatting with other small business owners, handing out swag at our booth, or learning from the panels and guest speakers, we walked away inspired and reminded why we love being part of this community.

As a local insurance agency, relationships are at the core of what we do. That’s why being a part of CougsFirst! feels like a natural fit—it’s about supporting each other, showing up, and building something great together. We’re excited to continue our involvement and share resources, advice, and services with fellow Cougs whenever we can.

  • Why Local Matters: The Value of Working with Our Agency

In a world of large insurance companies and online quoting engines, it’s easy to feel like just another policy number. It’s easy to get overwhelmed when you call in for customer service help, and spend 20 minutes trying to explain your situation to an automated answering machine. But when you choose to work with a local, community-based agency like Gilday Insurance, you’re choosing more than a policy – you’re choosing people who care. You’re choosing the agency owner himself, Tyler Gilday, and his employee, Claire.

We know your community, because we’re part of it.

As a local agency based in Woodinville, we live where you live. That gives us a unique understanding of the risks and needs specific to our area, whether it’s navigating the Pacific Northwest’s rainy season, helping small business owners protect their storefronts, or ensuring local families have the right coverage as they grow. We aren’t just local to Woodinville, we’re local to WASHINGTON.

    Personal relationships > call centers

At our agency, we know our clients by name, not by policy number. You don’t have to wait on hold or explain your story every time you call. Instead, you’ll talk to real people, either Tyler or Claire, who know your background, your coverage, and your goals. And if we don’t – you bet we’ll learn. That kind of trust and continuity can’t be bought – it’s built.

Real guidance you can rely on

Because we’re with Farmers, we are able to offer coverage through not only their products, but many different products from different carriers. That means we can shop around to find the best coverage and value for your unique situation. But more than that, we’re here to educate, not upsell. You can count on honest answers, straightforward advice, and coverage that actually fits.

    Spotlighting our local clients

As part of our commitment to community, we started our blog and launched our Business Spotlight Series, where we sit down with local business owners over lunch and share their stories on our blog and social media. It’s our way of saying saying thank you – and giving back by helping promote the incredible businesses we insure.

We’re proud to be local – and proud to serve you

When you choose Gilday Insurance, you’re not just getting a policy. You’re gaining a partner who’s invested in your success, who shows up when it matters most, and who genuinely cared about your story.

    Woodinville-based, relationship-driven.
